Hamburgers

Posted by cantai on 4th February 2008

Hamburgers are an American sandwich, filled with beef, salad and topping.  The word “hamburger” comes from Hamburg steak, which was first recorded in English in 1884.  Hamburg steak was a form of pounded beef that originated during the 19th Century in the German city Hamburg.  It is believed that when large numbers of Germans migrated to North America they brought the dish and the name with them.
