The Funny Bone

Hitting your funny bone is not always so funny! Did you know that it’s not actually a bone that you are hitting, it is a nerve called the ulnar nerve, which is in your arm. The ulnar nerve runs down into the arm, and across the elbow then into the hand. Because the ulna nerve is so close to the skins surface, when you bump it gives out a tingling, painful feeling. One theory about the funny bone is that it was named funny because of the humerus bone, which is in your upper arm.
